So, what star sign are you?

Happy New Year! I hope you had a lovely festive season. Sadly my beautiful ginger cat passed away during the holidays, so it was all quiet here, and I am looking forward to a new year and new beginnings.

In memory of my beautiful ginger cat.

In memory of my beautiful ginger cat.

In the downtime between Yuletide and New Year, and I guess in my brain’s attempt to keep my mind off sadder things, I spent three days solid working on a series of zodiac symbol illustrations.

Each symbol was hand drawn in pencil and then inked over to create a bold image, which I then scanned into Photoshop and coloured digitally, so that I could get the flat colour I wanted. Each symbol was then added to a background, again hand sketched originally and then coloured in Photoshop. There are a series of 12 that are all individual pieces, but I’ve put them together here to save a bit of space!

I had fun doing them, and it certainly took my mind off things, and lifted my mood.

I have a couple of plans for new eraser carvings already, one simple one to finish off my symbol series from last year, and one much more intricate one (the ones I love!), which will recall a recent walk along Hadrian’s Wall.

Hope you’re well and keeping creative :)

  1. Sorry to hear about your kitty. I know how tough that is. Amazing how much creativity can come though from coping with loss – the zodiac symbols are beautiful.

What a vast hole to have to deal with Carrie, it’s no wonder you managed to produce such a huge amount of work…. beautiful work at that! I’m so sorry that your furry friend finally lost the long battle but it was bravely fought by both of you.
Let’s hope the New Year brings good things this time, for you and your other fur ball…. she’ll need lots of hugs now.
    Thinking of you! xxx

So sorry about Ginger cat. She was absolutely gorgeous and will *always* be with you in your heart. I asked my girls to look out for her over the Rainbow Bridge.

I *love* the star signs. The doodling works so well in them and they look great on the bakcground.

    Love
