this, that and the other

First of all I have to say a massive thank you to all of you who took the time either to comment on my last post, or send me a Tweet or email regarding it. It was much appreciated, believe me :)

Now things are calming down a little and I have everything sorted, I started on a new project this weekend. It is for Masham Arts Festival and the aim is for lots of artists to decorate a cube on the theme of home in aid of the Shelter charity. So far I have created some origami pieces and have gessoed both those and the cube… more to come on this project as it progresses… not much to see at the moment…

I have a new newsletter set up – the newsletter won’t bombard you with stuff, it will just be every so often with news of my new designs, workshops, exhibitions, events, etc., and the occasional freebie download and special offers on my artwork. If that sounds good, then please sign up to my mailing list.

There’s a fun online event taking place this weekend called CraftFest, which I’ve signed up to. I’ve set up my CraftFest Stall and am now looking forward to the weekend :)

And finally for today, look at this little fellow that I found living in the coal…

I picked him out whilst I was scooping up new coal, and then put him back where I found him once I had finished. I now have to be extra careful though when going to get coal and make sure he doesn’t end up in my coal bucket! I can understand why he lives there though. Apparently newts only need water to breed, and as the coal is constantly inhabited by moths, spiders, earwigs, etc., etc., there is plenty of insect food for him there. I suppose the inconvenience of being covered in coal dust is outweighed by the food supply. The wonders of nature!

Have a great week, everyone :)

What an interesting project that appears to be…. I’m really looking forward to seeing how it turns out. The downloads are fantastic thank you, I can think of so many ways that I will be putting them to good use, you’ve had a very interesting childhood looking at some of those ticket stubs, happy memories no doubt!
I can think of more cuddly things I’d rather find in the coal house but in his/her own way there’s something quite endearing about the little creature that lives in the coal, there’s a children’s book in there Carrie.

Good luck with your new venture this weekend, I hope it brings some new customers and contacts for you.

    Lynn x

Think you should call him Neville the newt!! If he gets hungry, tell him we do a good range of giant spiders and they are available as take outs!!
Downloads are fab, thanks Carrie x

Thanks for the downloads Carrie. Neville is cute just mind you don’t scoop him up. We have some of those spiders with 2′ legs in Bishop.
